The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. John 4:28-30

According to the above-mentioned passage, many Samaritans in the city of Sychar went out to meet Jesus because of the testimony of the Samaritan woman. Her action is worthy of our attention and learning today.

Initially, the Samaritan woman went out of the city to draw water from Jacob’s well which was where she met Jesus. After talking with Him for some time, she began to realise that He is a prophet. Finally, when Jesus revealed His identity to her, she believed on Him as her Lord and Saviour. Her faith was then seen by her action of evangelism.

Immediately after knowing that Jesus is the Christ, the Samaritan woman could not contain her joy; she had to tell others about it. She left her water-pot behind, and quickly went back to the city and invited many people to come and see Jesus. She told them, “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29). The Samaritans had the understanding that when Christ comes, He will tell them all things (cf. John 4:25). We know from the Bible that many of the Samaritans were drawn to the Lord Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, and they believed on Him. After going out to meet Jesus, and asking Him to stay with them, they heard Jesus with their own ears, and were assured in their hearts that He is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world (cf. John 4:42). All these people came to know the Lord Jesus because a woman among them had the courage to testify of what He had done for her.

How about you, children? Do you have the courage to tell your friends in your neighbourhood or school about Christ? You must follow the example of the Samaritan woman who brought many people to the Lord Jesus Christ. You can invite them to GCM (Gethsemane Children’s Ministry) on Saturdays, or Junior Worship on Sundays. Furthermore, there is a Gospel rally on the 20th of March which you can bring a friend to
attend that he or she may be saved through the preaching of God’s Word. Tell them, “Come and meet my Lord Jesus Christ. He has saved me from my sins, and He can save you too.” Let all of us bring a friend to the Lord, shall we?
