2 Corinthians 1:3,4 "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who
comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

Comfort is promised by God to all His troubled children. Our God is “the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort”. He is always merciful and ready to comfort the troubled...

Romans 12:10
“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.”

God expects all His children to love others. Those who genuinely love others will also show kindness and respect to them.

We must love others as God has loved us. So think about the great love that God has shown us. Because God loved us, He gave His Son to be our Saviour. Because Jesus loved us, He died for us to take away our sins and punishment. O how kind, generous and sacrificial our loving God is!

Galatians 6:2
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

Fulfilling the law of Christ must be every Christian’s delight. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another” (John 13:34). The Lord Jesus Christ instructs all His people to love one another, as He has loved us.

Love is not just a sympathetic feeling expressed in words. It is more than just saying, “I love you.” True love will express itself in action...

Proverbs 3:7 advises us, “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.”

To think to oneself that it is wisdom to act according to one’s own idea, without the fear of the Lord, is very foolish. The Bible here warns us not to act according to one’s own idea without submitting to God. We must not act without trusting God and obeying His will...

Proverbs 1:5 – “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.”

Everyone who desires to be wise must cultivate the habit of learning more and more. Nobody is born with full knowledge of all aspects of life. So do not think to yourself that you know everything, but always be humble and enthusiastic about learning more. Don’t be content with what you have already known. Neither should you proudly despise those whom God has placed before you to teach you, whether they be parents, pastors, teachers or friends.

We read in Proverbs 13:20, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

A wise child will be careful about whom he will choose as his friends. Wise friends will make you wise, while foolish friends will bring destruction. In Proverbs, wise men are the godly people and fools are the ungodly. So, the above verse is exhorting us to develop friendships with the godly people, and to avoid any close relationship with the ungodly.

Proverbs 13:1 – “A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.”

God’s programme for a child to grow wisely requires that he pays attention to his godly parents’ advice. Home is the place where God grooms wise children. God uses parents to impart godly wisdom to children...

Proverbs 12:15 reminds us, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

Here in this verse, the main difference between a foolish person and a wise person is mentioned. A fool would not want to listen to good advice given to him, but will only do what he wants to do. He considers and believes what he thinks is always right and better. Warnings and good advice given to him by knowledgeable people are ignored

Proverbs 23:24 says, “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.”

The above verse talks about the joy of a father. The reason for the father’s joy is his son who is righteous and wise. A truly wise child lives righteously...
