“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Jesus unmistakably says that He will disown some who claim to be His servants. In the earlier verses, Jesus had said that these pretentious servants would say unto Him, “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?”
With those words, they would attempt to persuade Jesus that they are worthy to be accepted by Him. However, Jesus would disown them. Though they would claim to have done great things, even miracles, Jesus would reject them, because they were inwardly and secretly sinners who did not repent from their sins and who continued to live in their iniquities. According to Jesus, their claim that they did all those things in Jesus’ name was an absolute fake claim!
How sad that they went a long way in their lives as professing Christians. They made themselves appear as followers and servants of Christ! But they were fatally mistaken. They found it out in a terrible way.
What about you? Are you sincere in saying that you love Jesus? Please do not persist in sin. Repent of all your sins, whenever the Lord would rebuke you, lest the Lord disowns you.
