1 Corinthians 10:20
“But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.”
Almost everywhere in the world, there is idolatry or worship of idols. The cultures of our societies in which we live are often influenced by superstitions and practices associated with idol worship. Unfortunately, even some who claim to be Christians are influenced by the idolatrous beliefs and practices, which is displeasing to the living and true God.
In the church at Corinth, when some Christians joined in the practices of heathen worship, the apostle Paul explained to them that the Gentiles’ religious practice of sacrifice was actually an offering to the “devils” or demons. On several occasions, God had warned His people concerning other religious practices that are tantamount to worship of devils, which is unacceptable to Him (Leviticus 17:7; Deuteronomy 32:16-17; 2 Chronicles 11:15; Psalm 106:37-39; Revelation 9:20)!
Hence, all Christians are gravely instructed not to partake in the practices of other religions. God does not want His people to have communion with demons. As Christians, we must not accept the beliefs or superstitions of other religions. Neither should we join in their rites or feasts. We must be solemnly dedicated to Christ, and should never be participants of their religious activities.
