“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”
Children, you will be told by many around you in school and in other places that “people are basically good.” This idea is continually taught and reinforced by many psychologists, counsellors, and even religious leaders.
However, God’s Word says that hearts of all men are sinful; hence not one is righteous. In fact, most of us are acutely aware that we are sinful and guilty of many sins.
If we do not acknowledge our sins, and seek God’s forgiveness and help to overcome our sins, we will be overcome by our sins. Sadly, standing in the way are our stubbornness and self-pride, which prevent us from admitting our sins and repenting of them.
Let us not justify ourselves as those who have no sin. Not admitting our sins, or giving excuse for our sins will make us very wicked before God. But if we humbly admit them and seek God’s forgiveness, He will forgive us. Proverbs 28:13 tells us, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”
