“But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”
All those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ will be happy witnesses of Him. Jesus teaches us to be fearless in bearing testimony of Him – even before others who deny Him, or mock and threaten those who believe on Him. In fact, Jesus said that believers will be rejected and persecuted by unbelieving family members, neighbours, authorities, etc.
But the Lord wants us to never give up our faith in Him. Even though death would be the ultimate cost of our confession of Christ, we have nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. The Lord will receive us. Even in death, He will not forsake us. He will honour all His people when they get to heaven by confessing them before the Father – “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32).
While the Lord promised to honour those who would joyfully and boldly confess Him before men, He also warned those who would deny Him that He will likewise deny them before God the Father. Jesus will not receive those who deny Him, but will reject them forever.
