Diligent Enjoyment of Our Spiritual Privileges

2 Peter 1:10

“Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.”

A genuine Christian cannot be negligent or idle concerning his knowledge and enjoyment of spiritual realities. The apostle Peter urges believers to show diligence in their knowledge and enjoyment of the reality of their salvation, which he refers to as “calling” and “election”.

We are saved because God has elected us (before the foundation of the world) and then called us (through the Gospel) to repent and believe on Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord. Truly, God will call all whom He had elected to be saved – through the Gospel preaching.

All those who have thus trusted Christ are urged to show diligence in making sure their full enjoyment of their calling and election. Our assurance and joy of salvation are renewed and strengthened when we diligently join all who are saved to worship and serve Him.

Dear children, do you daily make effort to enjoy the spiritual privileges of God’s elect who are called by the Gospel? We are called to inherit all spiritual blessings. So, don’t hesitate or delay to seek the blessings associated with your salvation. Get on and be diligent to be wholly persuaded of your spiritual heritage in Christ.
