Christ’s Disownment of the Unsympathetic

Matthew 25:41

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”

Christ declared that on the judgment day, He would tell those standing on His left to depart from Him. Why would He reject those on His left? He said plainly that they are accursed.

The reason why they are accursed is because they have rejected Christ and His people. Later He would explain, “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me” (Matthew 25:42-45).

Their dislike for Christ would have been demonstrated by their unsympathetic attitude towards Christ’s people. Because they have rejected Christ and His will, they would also refuse to love and serve His people.

Because Jesus will reject them, they will spend their eternity in hell (“everlasting fire”), together with all Christ-rejecters, even the devil and his demons.
