“As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.”
Discretion is the ability that one has to choose that which is right, good and pleasing to God. The person with discretion also avoids all that are displeasing to God.
What do you think is more important – beauty or discretion? People often overvalue physical beauty. So many women pay a lot of attention to appear fair and beautiful.
However, the Bible teaches us that a beautiful woman who lacks discretion is truly an affront or abhorrent to those around her. She is like a swine that is dressed up, even with a ring of gold on its snout, which will put her head into mud and everything filthy.
We must be more concerned about our inner character than outward beauty. Pray that we will be wise and righteous in all our desires and actions.
