“O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.”
The psalmist desired a happy living, so that he may rejoice and be glad all his days. Similarly, all of God’s children should desire to experience continual joy in life, no matter how distressing and challenging life may be. After all, God has promised to bless His children, who trust in Him, with joy – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing…” (Romans 15:13).
But how can God’s children always remain happy in life? We see, in Psalm 90:14, the children of God asking God to satisfy them early with His mercy. Oh, let us plead for God’s mercy to be given early to us. The earlier we receive His mercy, the greater the joy we will have.
If you have sinned against God, seek His mercy at once. Go to him without delay as soon as you recognise your sin, and pray that He will show you His abundant mercy to pardon your sin. Lingering in sin without seeking His mercy is foolishness, for it will lead to many sorrows! So, ask for His mercy early for the forgiveness of your sins.
Likewise, if you are afraid, seek His mercy without delay for courage and strength of heart. If you are disappointed and frustrated, ask the Lord for His mercy, that He may grant you comfort and peace. If you are sick, seek His mercy for His healing and restoration. Don’t delay, but be early to seek His mercy.
